'Insane that this is posted in view of the dining area': Local chain restaurant displays "aggressive sign" in front of customers

Would a sign like this stop you from eating at a local restaurant? This person stopped in their tracks when they noticed the sign at a local breakfast chain. They snapped a photo and shared it to the good people of r/antiwork, and more than 500 people shared their thoughts in the comments section. 

First impressions matter, and restaurants know this. A lot of places hire a host or hostess to greet guests the moment they walk in the door to start off their dining experience on a positive note. You want the customer to feel excited about the meal they're about to eat, or at the very least feel relaxed and ready to chow down on their dinner. 

This chain location is not making anyone feel welcome with this sign for their servers. Written mostly in bold and all capital letters, then highlighted like a kid with unlimited access to markers made it, the sign is certainly eye-catching. The sign starts off addressing the waitstaff, noting that there is a single size of drink ("It's pretty easy to figure it out," the sign reads). It then goes on to admonish the works for applying AARP discounts on top of kid-size foods. I imagine this is aimed at seniors who order smaller sizes and then try to also use their AARP discount. How are those customers going to feel when they read this sign chiding them in such a petty fashion? Does this place really want to make their regulars feel like villains for being on a budget? 

The sign goes on and on, basically repeating the same talking points. Some commenters loved the phrase "Get your BADA up," which is supposed to encourage waiters to upsell to customers. The sign is just so off-putting, and hopefully this chain gets rid of it altogether (or just puts it away from the view of customers).

    Pretty aggressive sign at my local D 's posted right behind the counter. Been here 15 minutes and already heard a worker complain about being shorted a day on their paycheck. No wonder it's always short staffed

    Sufficient-Meet6127. I would walk right back out. The kid-size thing went to court with McDonald's and they lost. So that's illegal. Adults can buy as many Happy Meals as they like, no kids are

    FriendofSquatch. If you work in a restaurant, and signs like this are posted anywhere, you have an absolute boss. Not even to get into the validity of this particular issue, these kind of things should be discussed face to face as a group at a shift meeting or something like that.

    Posting signs is passive aggressive, toxic, and a sure fire way to ensure you are totally ignored. It's absolutely insane that this is posted in view of the dining area where guests can see it. <- 24 years in the food service industry here
